eBay Storylines I

eBay was created long time ago that is in September 1995, by Pierre Omidyar from San Jose. That day, he wanted his site ('AuctionWeb') to be an online marketplace, and wrote the first code for it in one weekend. AuctionWeb was one of the first online marketing websites in the world. The name "eBay" taken from the domain Omidyar used for his site. His company's name was Echo Bay, and the 'eBay AuctionWeb' was originally Echo Bay's website at ebay.com.
The site quickly became popular, as sellers came to list all they have and buyers actually bought them. Relying on trust seemed to work remarkably well, and that the site could be run itself. For the first time, the site starting to collect a small fee on each sale, and it used to pay for AuctionWeb's expansion. And then the fees quickly added up to more than his current salary, and so he decided to quit his job and work on the site. In 1996, he added the feedback facilities, to let buyers and sellers rate each other. He hope buying and selling could be safer.
In 1997, Omidyar changed AuctionWeb's name to "eBay". He starting to spend a lot of money on advertising. In this year, the eBay logo was designed. It was in this year that the one-millionth items was sold specially a toy version of Big Bird from Sesame Street.
